UTM Fox vs. the alternatives

Most campaign tracking tools make you route your traffic through their infrastructure. UTM Fox connects to the Cloudflare account you already own — so your domain stays yours.

The short version

Terminus is the closest thing to UTM Fox — until you look at where the redirect lives.

Terminus is the only competitor that already pairs a governance rules engine with destination monitoring. It's a genuinely good product. But every link you publish through it resolves on Terminus's infrastructure, on Terminus's domain, under Terminus's uptime. UTM Fox writes the same redirect into your Cloudflare account and then gets out of the traffic path.

Their entry price$66/mo annual3 users · 5 projects
Our entry price$0free tierpaid from $29/mo · 3 seats

Where Terminus is strong

  • Mature UTM rules engine — forced lowercase, character limits, prohibited characters, required fields
  • Naming "Conventions" module across projects and clients
  • URL monitoring that checks destinations stay reachable
  • Grid Mode spreadsheet-style bulk builder and bulk cloning
  • Chrome extension, API access, fine-grained permissions

Where it leaves you exposed

  • Vendor-hosted redirect — your campaign links depend on their uptime, not yours
  • No single readable health score; you read a rules list instead
  • No free tier — a 21-day trial is the only way to evaluate
  • No offline/vanity redirect workflow tied to a governed taxonomy
  • Priced per user and per project — costs climb as the team grows

Why teams pick UTM Fox

  • Redirects deploy into your own Cloudflare account via OAuth
  • Every campaign carries a 0–100 Campaign Health Score anyone can act on
  • Unlimited campaigns on paid plans; seats capped, not metered per project
  • GA4 attribution monitoring surfaces campaigns that stopped reporting traffic
  • Free tier to prove it works before anyone signs a contract

Worth knowing: Terminus has announced "Terminus Hub," billed as the next generation of campaign governance. It hasn't shipped as of August 2026. If it lands, expect their positioning to move toward ours — the architectural difference is the part they can't easily copy.
The short version

UTM.io stops bad links with a manager's approval. UTM Fox stops them with rules that never sleep.

UTM.io's headline feature is an approval workflow — a person reviews every link before it goes live. That works until the reviewer is on vacation, or the campaign ships at 4:55pm on a Friday. UTM Fox enforces the same standards automatically at the moment of creation, so nothing queues behind a human.

Our entry price$0free tierpaid from $29/mo

Where UTM.io is strong

  • Naming convention templates enforced organization-wide
  • Approval workflow — a manager signs off before links go live
  • Team workspaces controlling who can create links
  • Branded domains and click tracking
  • One of the few competitors with a real free tier

Where it leaves you exposed

  • No post-launch destination monitoring — a link that breaks next month goes unnoticed
  • No health scoring; approval is binary and human-judged
  • Vendor-hosted redirects, same gatekeeper problem
  • No attribution monitoring or GA4 reconciliation
  • Approval queues become the bottleneck they were meant to prevent

Why teams pick UTM Fox

  • Governance runs at creation time — no queue, no gatekeeper, no waiting
  • Destination re-checked on every edit, so a stale link surfaces without a reviewer
  • A 0–100 score gives the same confidence an approval was meant to give
  • Redirects live in your Cloudflare, not theirs
  • GA4 attribution monitoring catches campaigns that quietly stopped reporting

Honest note: if a formal sign-off step is a hard compliance requirement for your organization, UTM.io has it today and UTM Fox does not. Our blocking validation prevents non-compliant links from ever being saved, which covers most of the same ground — but it isn't a named reviewer approving a queue.
The short version

CampaignTrackly cleans up your data for reporting. UTM Fox stops it from breaking in the first place.

CampaignTrackly is the cheapest governance-positioned tool in the category, and it's good at what it targets: reporting-ready UTM data flowing into GA4 or Adobe. Its checks are aimed at catching mislabeled traffic after the fact. UTM Fox validates the destination before launch — including a live request to the URL — so the campaign never goes out broken.

Their entry price$15/mo500 links · 15,000 clicks
Our entry price$0free tierpaid from $29/mo

Where CampaignTrackly is strong

  • Lowest entry price in the governance category
  • Click & Add and drag-and-drop UTM builders
  • Excel and Chrome extensions marketers already live in
  • QR code automation and 100+ integrations
  • 21-day trial, no credit card

Where it leaves you exposed

  • Hard caps on links and clicks — you get billed for growth, not value
  • No destination health monitoring after launch
  • No composite health score to act on
  • Vendor-hosted short links; your domain isn't the source of truth
  • Positioned as reporting cleanup, not pre-launch prevention

Why teams pick UTM Fox

  • A live HEAD request against every destination before the campaign is saved
  • Unlimited campaigns on paid plans — no per-link meter
  • Health checks recorded on every change, surfaced as an at-risk list on the dashboard
  • Redirects written into your own Cloudflare account

Straight answer on price: CampaignTrackly is cheaper, and if all you need is a bulk UTM builder with a spreadsheet extension, it may be the right call today. The gap shows up when you want a campaign's destination actually verified rather than its label checked.
The short version

Bitly shortens links. UTM Fox governs campaigns.

Bitly is a link shortener that added UTM building on top. That's fine for a one-off social post. It isn't a system that stops five marketers from spelling "facebook" five different ways, and every click still routes through bit.ly. UTM Fox is the tool a marketing ops lead installs once so the team can't casually break tracking.

Their UTM tier$35/moGrowth · 500 links · UTMs
Our entry price$0free tierpaid from $29/mo

Where Bitly is strong

  • Enormous brand recognition — a bit.ly link needs no explanation
  • CSV bulk upload up to 100,000 links
  • Basic campaign grouping and city-level click analytics
  • QR codes and mobile deep linking on higher tiers
  • The path of least resistance for a single short link

Where it leaves you exposed

  • No naming convention enforcement — governance is an afterthought
  • No destination monitoring beyond click counts
  • No health score, no validation, no duplicate detection
  • Every click proxies through Bitly's infrastructure
  • UTM building gated behind the $35/mo Growth plan; 4-month data retention

Why teams pick UTM Fox

  • Approved sources and mediums defined once, enforced on every link
  • Broken destinations flagged before launch and on every subsequent edit
  • Redirects deploy to your own domain via your Cloudflare account
  • Campaign history and audit trail, not a link list
  • GA4 reconciliation showing which campaigns actually delivered traffic

Not either/or: plenty of teams keep Bitly for public-facing short links and use UTM Fox to govern what goes into them. The two aren't mutually exclusive — but only one of them tells you when a campaign destination goes down.

The difference every one of them shares.

Terminus, UTM.io, CampaignTrackly, Bitly, Rebrandly — all of them host the redirect themselves. Your campaign links resolve on their infrastructure, on their uptime, and if you leave, the links die with the account. UTM Fox connects to the Cloudflare account you already own and writes the rule there. Cancel us tomorrow and every link you published keeps working.

your domain → stays yours
1

You connect Cloudflare by OAuth

One authorization, scoped to the zones you pick. No API keys pasted into a form, no nameserver changes.

2

We write the redirect rule

The vanity path lives in your account as a normal Cloudflare rule you can read, edit, or delete without us.

3

Traffic never touches us

Visitors hit your domain and your edge. We monitor from the outside and score what we find.

Before you switch

The questions that come up every time

Can I bring the links I already have?

Existing links keep working — nothing you've published depends on us. Campaigns are recreated in UTM Fox so they're governed and scored going forward. A bulk CSV importer is not built yet; for large libraries, talk to us.

What happens to my links if I cancel?

Redirects created in your own Cloudflare account stay in your Cloudflare account. Short links on our shared utm.wiki domain stop resolving — those are a convenience, not a dependency.

Do I need Cloudflare to use UTM Fox?

No. Governance, validation, health scoring, and campaign history all work without connecting anything. Cloudflare is required only for deploying vanity redirects on your own domain.

How long does setup take?

Governance rules and your first campaign: minutes. Connecting Cloudflare: one OAuth screen. There is no tag to install and no script on your site.

Is my traffic data shared with UTM Fox?

Only what you connect. GA4 attribution monitoring reads the property you authorize. We never sit in the click path, so we have no independent record of your visitors.

What if my team is already on a spreadsheet?

That's the most common starting point, and honestly the easiest migration — paste the sheet in, and every inconsistency you've accumulated shows up as a score.

Try it against whatever you're using now.

Free tier, no card, no call. Build one governed campaign and see what the score says.
